Simple Guide on How to Insert A Urethra Sound

The act of inserting a metal rod up your pee hole can be terrifying for some people. For others, it can be incredibly intimate and pleasurable.

If you’re in the first group, no worries. It’s literally different strokes for different folks and there is no obligation to try something you really don’t want to. However, if the idea tickles your fancy, there are a few key safety tips and practices you should know first.

The biggest one being the actual act of slipping it in.

Here’s how…

Wash everything!

Imagine you’re about to perform surgery. Sterilize the toy and wash your hands and genitals very well. After, make sure not to touch anything else. This includes things like doorknobs, bedsheets etc. Have everything prepared and ready before you begin.

Find a position and relax

There’s no right or wrong with how you place your body. It’s whatever is comfortable for you – sitting, standing, lying down. And, just like any orifice that isn’t used to penetration, take plenty of time to relax.  A tense body (and holes) won’t make for a nice experience.

Use a ton of lube

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again … use LOTS of lube. If you think you have enough, add more. If you’re a dude, put it on the rod and around the hole. If you’re a woman, also put it on the toy and around our hole and labia.

Get a semi (for men)

Get yourself to a partial hard on – this seems to be the sweet spot. Too soft or too hard, and it makes things difficult or dangerous. After it’s in, getting an erection or not doesn’t matter.

Use slow insertion

Never, EVER, force the rod in. Your body and gravity should do most of the work. Smooth rods should nearly slide in on their own. At the start (getting it first in), you might have to coax it, but don’t “push” it in. The heavier the toy, usually the easier it will go in on its own.

SIDE NOTE: Always choose a diameter that is appropriate to your experience and comfort. Never go too thick if you’re just starting out. Also, never go for really thin rods (they can end up puncturing the tissue walls).

Understand depth

Women have a much shorter canal than men

Play with it carefully

Once it’s in (and you don’t have to put it all the way in if you don’t want), carefully and gently experiment with moving it from side to side, in and out, your partner can also hum on it to send soft vibes through the rod.

Stick to straight

There are lots of different rods and plugs out there. Some will have textures. Some will have curves that allow you to put it in farther. My suggestion is to start with a short, straight, simple rod and don’t try to go past the base of the penis.

Keep a level head

There is a small chance (especially if you try to go too far) that the rod will get lost up the urethra. If that happens (as hard as it sounds), try to keep calm. Tense muscles will not let the sound slip out. Loose, relaxed muscles will. Here are some more suggestions…

  • Breathe deeply
  • Get into a warm bath
  • Add more lube to the exit hole
  • Position yourself so gravity can help the rod come out
  • GENTLE coax it to come out from the opposite end (the end furthest in you)
  • If it won’t come out, go to the doctor. Be honest about what happened so they can best help you. A little embarrassment is better than severe internal damage to your body.
