Sex Toys In Airports – How To Get Through Security

Honeymoons, moving, or just a fun weekend.

There are so many reasons we pack our vibrating friends in a “secret” place in our suitcase. But the issues with taking adult products through airport security spans far more than just a blushing reaction if a guard whips out your ribbed vibrator and asks, “What’s this?”

Here are some simple tips to help you get through your flight with as little stress as possible.

SEX TOYS IN AIRPORTS – PACK A SMALLER ONE

Your monster magic wand might make your toes curl in the best way, and you really want to bring it to the hotel, but large sex toys draw more attention on x-ray screenings. There are plenty of small-sized toys that can look like a tube of lipstick or makeup compact and go through security unnoticed.

If you’re a power queen, don’t worry. There are plenty of smaller toys that can still pack an orgasmic punch.

DRAIN THE BATTERY

If your toy uses normal batteries, make sure to take them out and store them separately (which you should be doing with your toys even if you’re not traveling with them).

If it’s a rechargeable one, some sites recommend using the toy as much as you can beforehand so the batteries drain. So, if anything presses up against the buttons, there won’t be police-brining rumbling sounds coming from your carry-on.

I’m not a fan of completely draining your toys (it can harm the battery life), but if it’s once in a blue moon, you should be ok. Just make sure you give it a full charge before using it again.

IMPORTANT!

“Spare (uninstalled) lithium-ion and lithium metal batteries, including power banks and cell phone battery charging cases, must be carried in carry-on baggage only.” This is taken right from the FAA Hazmat security guidelines for airport baggage.

If your toy is powered by a Li-ion battery, you’ll have to put it in your carry-on bag.

PLASTIC BAG

There’s always a chance that someone will pull out your sex toy and give it a good squint. While some people suggest storing your toys in their brand baggies, I would suggest putting it in a clear plastic bag. This way, the airport worker can see it without putting their yucky gloves all over it.

EX TOYS IN AIRPORTS – BDSM GEAR

Somethings like fuzzy handcuffs or bondage tape or puppy paws will go unnoticed. Or at least they’ll be deemed “unthreatening.” However, some harder stuff like whips, floggers, or heavy metal objects can be called “defense devices” and confiscated.

If you’re determined to bring your kink with you, store them together in clear bags. Also, leave your good stuff at home and bring your second-bench items, just in case there’s a chance of losing them.

BE PROUD

Guards are trained to understand the difference between “normal nervous” and “nervous because something illegal is happening.” If the “worst” happens and your rabbit vibrator is pulled out for the world to see, just own it. Be proud of your healthy sex drive. Have a good giggle with the inspector. You’ll get through the line faster.

I remember moving to another country and I had ALL my toys in my carry-on (at least the expensive ones). It was no surprise that I was pulled aside to have a thorough check. Honestly, I was looking forward to it. I had no shame in my collection. I was looking forward to seeing this meek young man have a blushing heart attack.

He rummaged through the collection, not batting an eye, and then pulled out the male masturbator (which looks like a thermos). He asked, “What’s this?” I grinned and told him. He nodded and put it back.

I felt so cheated.

Honestly, though, these guys are so used to seeing adult products go through their lines, it really doesn’t faze them. So, if they’re not embarrassed, you shouldn’t be either.

Trust me, they’ve seen IT ALL, and really don’t care.

EX TOYS IN AIRPORTS – RESEARCH

Being “loud and proud” about your toys is fine. But, it’s really important to remember that some places do NOT allow sex toys. Do your research ahead of time to see if everything is ok. “Where are sex toys illegal” is a good Google search to start with.

That being said, the most important detail hunting you can do is with liquid limitations (if you’re bringing things like lubricant or massage oils).
